How the grid actually fills
Instagram lays a profile out newest first, left to right, three per row. So the post you publish next takes the top-left slot and pushes everything else along by one.
That is why a checkerboard or a three-column colour pattern falls apart: it only holds while the number of posts stays a multiple of three. Plan the sequence, not fixed positions.
What is worth planning
Colour and brightness rhythm, so the grid does not clump. Alternating dense and simple compositions, so it does not read as noise at thumbnail size. And making sure two near-identical assets do not land side by side.
What is not worth planning is an elaborate multi-post mural. It looks impressive for one day and constrains every post after it.
Nothing leaves your browser
The images you add are read locally with an object URL. They are never uploaded, never sent to Poststack, and disappear when you close the tab. There is no account and nothing is stored.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my images uploaded anywhere?
- No. They are read in your browser and never transmitted. Close the tab and they are gone - which also means the plan is not saved, so take a screenshot if you want to keep it.
- Why does my grid pattern break after a few posts?
- Because position is relative, not fixed. Every new post shifts the whole grid right by one, so a pattern that depends on a specific tile being in a specific column only survives while you post in exact multiples of three.
- What size should the images be?
- The grid displays square thumbnails, so a 1:1 crop shows what people see on your profile. If you post at 4:5, the profile grid crops the top and bottom - worth checking that the subject survives it.
